Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) operates nine major educational television stations across the state as Georgia Public Broadcasting Television. See also List of television stations in Georgia. Georgia is home to Ted Turner, who founded TBS, TNT, and CNN, among others. The CNN Center headquarters is located in Atlanta, GA.

The Weather Channel's headquarters is located in the Vinings area of metropolitan Atlanta in Cobb County, GA.

Georgia is the home state to Coca Cola, Delta Air Lines, Home Depot, AFLAC, United Parcel Service (UPS), and Chick-Fil-A.

Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the principal hub for AirTran Airways.

Georgia's nicknames include Peach State and Empire State of the South .

The state song, "Georgia on My Mind" by Hoagy Carmichael was originally written about a woman of that name, but after Georgia native Ray Charles sang it, the state legislature voted it the state song on April 24, 1979. Ray Charles sang it on the legislative floor when the bill was passed. This act was significant in that it symbolized to many the move away from segregation and racism.

The state tree is the Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana), the state bird is the brown thrasher (Toxostoma rufum), and the state flower is the Cherokee rose (Rosa laevigata). The state game bird is the Bobwhite quail (Colinus virginianus). The state wildflower is the Azalea (Rhododendron spp.). The state fruit is the peach (Prunus persica). The state fish is the Largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides). The state marine mammal is the Right whale. The state reptile is the Gopherus polyphemus (Gopherus polyphemus). The state amphibian is the green tree frog (Hyla cinerea). The state possum is Pogo possum. The state insect is the Honey bee (Apis mellifera). The state butterfly is the eastern tiger swallowtail (Papilio glaucus). The state mineral is Staurolite. The state seashell is the Knobbed whelk (Busycon carica). The state gem is quartz. The state crop is the peanut. The state vegetable is the vidalia sweet onion. The state fossil is the shark tooth. The state commemorative quarter was released on July 19, 1999.

The first houses in Georgia to be designated historic state landmarks are the Owens Thomas House and the Sorrel Weed House, in the Savannah historic district.

Georgia Travel Guide - Outside Georgia

Bordering Georgia to the south is Florida. Here you'll find miles and miles of beaches, along with theme parks in Orlando.

To the west, Alabama houses the Space and Rocket Center.

To the north, Tennessee and North Carolina share the Great Smoky Mountains. Tennessee is where you'll find Nashville and it's music related attractions, while North Carolina has the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain.

To the east, South Carolina has historic Charleston and the Hilton Head Island resort.
